All-American Spice Blend (works with Halloumi or potatoes)
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground cayenne pepper
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp sweet paprika
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp salt
1 tsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp dried mustard
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp ground allspice
1/8 tsp ground cloves
combine all ingredients in a small frying pan (do not add any oil) and dry fry on medium heat for 2 minutes or until fragrant.
this works as a marinade for haloumi, soak slices of haloumi in water for 10 minutes, drain and coat with oil and then dip in all-american spice blend to coat. fry the haloumi in oil and serve with cubed roasted sweet potato and coleslaw and or potato salad.
